Biography

Henry Li serves as the CEO of the firm, specializing in corporate and international law. His areas of expertise include cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint venture transactions, international sales and distribution agreements, technology transfer and licensing, cross-jurisdiction dispute resolution, as well as media and entertainment law matters.

With extensive professional experience in both China and the US, and having studied at law schools in both countries, Mr. Li offers a unique and comprehensive understanding of transactions involving China and the US. He has successfully represented numerous Chinese-listed companies, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and venture capital and private equity funds in their investments in the US. Additionally, Mr. Li has guided many US companies in their investments in China, through direct investment, joint ventures, or merger and acquisition transactions. Renowned for his ability to navigate complex transactions and his exceptional negotiation skills, Mr. Li is highly regarded by clients and peers alike.

Mr. Li also possesses extensive expertise in litigation and dispute resolution. In China, he has participated in numerous complex business litigation cases at various levels of the Chinese court system, representing both local and international clients. Furthermore, he has represented clients in arbitration proceedings before prominent arbitral bodies in China and internationally, such as the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), and other arbitration institutions.

In the US, Mr. Li collaborates closely with his colleagues to support Chinese companies in initiating or defending lawsuits before US state and federal courts and the USPTO. He possesses considerable experience in handling issues that frequently emerge in cross-border litigation involving Chinese parties, including unique and intricate service of process rules and procedures, jurisdiction and venue rules, the often challenging subject of extraterritorial application of US statutes, methods of judicial assistance, and the complex rules surrounding cross-border discovery and procedure. Mr. Li also has experience enforcing Chinese arbitration awards and court judgments in the US and other foreign jurisdictions.

In addition to China and the US, Mr. Li has represented clients in transactions across a diverse range of jurisdictions by partnering with top local counsel. These jurisdictions include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and others. Mr. Li is also well-versed in offshore corporate structures and tax planning for cross-border transactions.

Mr. Li is an active member of the International Bar Association (IBA), American Bar Association (ABA), and the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA). He has also served as a member of the Integrity & Compliance Task Force for B20 Saudi Arabia 2020, B20 Italy 2021, and B20 Indonesia 2022.

In 2015, Henry Li was appointed as a board member of the Yingke Global Legal Service Network ("Yingke Global"), the first international network of independent law firms headquartered in China.
