YK Law LLP, a United States law firm in association with leading Chinese law firm Yingke International, was a proud sponsor of this year’s MedTech Innovation Forum, an annual medical technology and device-focused event in Orange County, California. The event explored the myriad of breakthroughs and advancements that took place at the intersection of the healthcare and technology industries over the past year–a period in time in which these two fields have played a pivotal role in combating the ongoing pandemic.

This year’s MedTech Innovation Forum featured MemorialCare President and CEO Barry Arbuckle alongside an array of physicians, strategists, entrepreneurs and other health and technology experts as they discussed the unparalleled importance of the medical technology industry, major developments over the past year and steps that have yet to be taken. The latter of these areas was of particular interest this year; while combating the COVID-19 pandemic, including the recent delta variant, and adopting new methods of ensuring safety as more of the country becomes vaccinated has been tantamount since 2020, today’s medical experts are also examining strategies and technologies that can help prepare us for such events in the future.

“This year’s MedTech Innovation Forum was undoubtedly one of the most important events of the year in terms of keeping people informed on what the latest advancements are and what is yet to come,” Partner of YK Law. “Public health is inarguably the most important issue immediately facing the planet, and the medical technology industry is on the front lines of ensuring our collective health and safety.”

This event showcases the brilliant and innovative minds that are part of the medical technology and device ecosystem in Orange County. “Because of the development and presence of medtech and medical device companies–both large multinationals and start-ups–in Orange County, we established our Irvine office to engage directly with these companies and the innovations that they have dedicated themselves to develop.” partner in charge of YK Law’s Irvine office.

The MedTech Innovation Forum is the signature event of Octane, an organization that convenes and enables the Southern California technology and medical technology business ecosystem by connecting people, resources and capital. In keeping with this mission statement of increased connections between these parties, this year’s forum introduced a segment called “Fast Pitch!,” during which emerging medical technology start-ups were able to present a series of quick pitches to both investors and attendees.

“A feature such as Fast Pitch! is just one example of how Octane creates opportunities to move the medical technology field ahead at an increasing rate. By placing these start-ups in front of potential investors, these entrepreneurs are able to make immediate progress that may have otherwise taken weeks or even months.” said Liao.

Octane’s goal is to create over 55,000 high-value technology jobs in Southern Enterprise Solutions, a new platform to provide companies capital and growth sources to accelerate job creation, new events and programs and direct access to capital. Learn more at https://octaneoc.org/.
